International Student Riding Competitions
This special kind of competition is open to University Student Riders from around the world. Each rider will compete in both Dressage and Show Jumping. The hosting country is responsible for the riders from the beginning of the competition until the end. This includes housing, feeding and transportation as well as providing horses for the competition.
There are normally between 12 and 18 teams from different countries with three riders per team.
Competitions are designed in a tournament style with each round increasing the level of difficulty. The organizers of the competition supply the horses which are drawn at random by the competitors to determine who will ride which horse. A five minute warm-up and two practice jumps in the show jumping are permitted prior to each ride. Each horse in every round has three riders, the best of whom advances to the next round. Therefore, the "luck-of-the-draw" is diminished since each rider is only competing directly against the other two riders on his or her horse.
DRESSAGE
In the first round the entire team rides a test together. The team receive a team score and each rider is also judged individually (four judges are used to judge the first round). For the remaining rounds, riders do their tests individually. The two finalists ride two final rounds consisting of a musical freestyle and a Prix St. George level test.

SHOW JUMPING
The first round is judged on style, the second round on faults then style. From the third round on, faults then time decide. The two finalists ride two horses each over a course that may be a maximum height of 4'6".
